Editorial based in Fuerteventura, with the experience and previously accumulated knowledge, we wanted to go deeper into such a special place on earth. All the themes have been examined with sufficient rigour so that the reader realises the importance these islands have on a geologic, biologic and historic level. At present, they make up one of the most important mass tourism destinations in Europe, which brings us to a delicate situation: the high level of deterioration generated, and the universal necessity for the conservation of its values. We think that this necessity for conservation not only in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote but also in the rest of the world should be imposed. Prohibition generates rights; regulations of use and behaviour in certain areas gives free rein to the annihilating of non protected areas. Education and a certain level of information assimilated in a pleasant way gives rise to the knowledge and respect for our environment.
