The third body is the astral body or the emotional body. The emotional body is like a sponge, or a cotton mass that absorbs emotional state. In trying to visualise what this body might look like, try to see it as an unshaped misty matter that encircles the physical and ethereal body and can spread out to several meters. Like the ethereal body, which is our container of energy, the astral body is our container of emotions. It directly influences our way of living, our interpretation of reality and other people.
Infantile
trauma (often imperceptible to adults) can create a serious
imbalance in the astral body to such an extent that it can
have a deleterious affect on the rest of the person's
life.
There can be emotional people for whom situations can cause terrible suffering and yet the same situations would appear totally unimportant for other people; there can be other people whose astral body has totally atrophied and therefore live without emotions or else perceive emotions in a distorted way - these people can be considered dead. There can be people who can kill or destroy others without batting an eyelash. Not all these people end up in jail, they can even be rich an well respected.
The astral body has a profound interaction with the emotional bodies of other people who are close, influencing others and being influenced by others. Have you ever been to a party where everything is light and happy when a person arrives who is depressed, and suddenly without noticing the energy turns to heavy and sad? This is a classic interaction between emotional bodies. Emotional bodies affect one another with alarming facility and speed, both in a positive as well as negative way.
The
health of the physical body is 98% dependent on the health
of the astral and ethereal body. Or the express it more
accurately, the astral body influences the ethereal body,
which in turn influences the physical body. All theories
regarding alternative medicine - holistic, spiritual curing
as well as acupuncture and homeopathy is based on this
principal; that is, to bring the energetic and emotional
fields into balance.
There exist, as well, higher levels of vibrations, the mental as well as the causal body, the permanent absolute atom until... each person can find his or her own relationship with these concept in accordance with his/her particular cosmic vision.
The ides as presented by western Science via the mass-media appear to be craziness to many people. There is, however, an astonishing openness that we are beginning to witness as regards these ideas.
Very well. To those few heroes who have arrived to this point and are still clutching your mouse, my compliments. However, before closing, I would like to clarify something. There are many spiritual group and many interpretations on these themes. I have read authors who consider the astral an emotional body to be two different entities; but they do non mention other theories which are even more incredible. Since this is not the place to discuss the pros and cons of each theory, I would suggest only to go the source.
