BIGNONIALAKE

An image must fulfil three requirements: to express an idea simply, to provoke an emotion, and to be in harmonious and aesthetic relationship with its context (magazine, book, CD cover etc.)

I shall explain my method as a general point of view of Man, and I will try to ,be simple and brief.

In line with Teachings from various Esoteric Schools, I consider Man to be a complex system that interacts with an external system; that which we in the West call "reality".

In order to actualise this interaction, Man is provided with system called "centres". As regard my work, it is interesting to focus attention on the "rational centre", which in the West correspond to the left hemisphere of the brain and on the "emotional centre" which correspond, from a general point of view, to the right hemisphere of the brain.

The rational centre is a centre for analysis; it is useful for processing and, when possible, digesting that which comes from outside the nucleus of our sense of "I"; one could call these processes psycho-metabolism and psycho-catabolism. The emotional centre is a centre for synthesis (an emotion is a unity, like a hologram divided into many small parts, each part containing the entire image; it is useful for processing ad, when possible, digesting that which comes from outside the nucleus of our sense of "I".

This capacity to synthesise demonstrates the fact that emotional centre is faster than the rational centre.

AEGIPTMASKIn other words, we receive the emotional component of the global vision much before the rational component. We can therefore understand that the emotional aspect acts as a filter, that is it gives colour to our perception of reality. The emotional component influences us much more than the rational component; this is because it stands at the beginning of the perception flow and thereby influences impressions that come afterwards. Since a part of the emotions remain at the subconscious level, this will further complicate the relationship between man and reality.

It should be mentioned that this knowledge has been utilised since antiquity (even though is has been formulated in different ways) by religions to keep humanity under control; over several centuries by politicians to dominate the masses; and for the past 60 years by industrialists to sell mountains of worthless trinkets to the consumers.

You might try an experiment: Record any publicity spot whatsoever en then watch in attentively in slow motion and you will discover the number of "tricks" that act on your emotional centre. And don't forget the background sounds that act on you as well.

So anyway, I create images keeping in mind these ideas.

There are other ideas that I would like to present for people who might be interested.

These Esoteric Schools (which are very ancient) state that Man is composed of a certain number of "bodies" and not only the physical body. There is an energetic or ethereal body that exists in the same space occupied by the physical body - at times it manifests as an energy that can spread out to even a few centimetres in accordance with the intensity of vital energy of the given person. This body is the depository of energetic states, above all the vital ancestral energy; that which we have received from the time of our birth and which cannot be regenerated, When it is finished, it is finished! The vital ancestral energy is consumed in man through sexual activity and in the woman through pregnancy, birth and breast feeding.
