Smoking Section
December 2004

It may not look like it, but this was a bright, sunny day.

Fortunately, it was Autumn and not a hot summer day, because we had to close all our windows for a while. Within an hour or so the wind shifted and we were in the clear again. The burning piles smoldered for almost a week but we didn't have any more smoke problems. Eucalyptus trees are cash crops in Galicia and this sort of clear-cutting/burning is a common sight here.
Most growers re-plant after the fires have gone out and they've done a little more cleaning. But the
land-baron owner of the land next to us doesn't live around here so we don't know what his plans are. |
