San Ramon 2002
Ambroa's Summer Fiesta
October 2002

Our 2-day San Ramon fiesta was held on 8/31 and 9/1 this year. Each day's event was split between an afternoon "vermouth session" and the main event later that night.

AMBROA'S FIESTA SITE DURING THE FIRST DAY'S SESIÓN VERMUT
The picture above shows what the fiesta site looked like during the " sesión vermut " on the first day. The bandstand is toward the back. There's a bar on each side (that's where the folks are bunched up.) Each bar is flanked by souvenir stands and arcade-type entertainment for the young kids. The building on the far right is our parish community center. The fields around the site are used as parking lots during fiestas.

The picture below, left, shows the band "Florida" playing at the " sesión vermut. " They're on their own fold-up, mobile bandstand. Below, right, four ladies are enjoying the music.

"Florida"
" Florida " was one of two bands playing later this night
Dancin' Ladies
These ladies danced while the rest of us just listened to the band

" Ritmo Joven "
" Ritmo Joven " (Young Rhythm?) was a big hit with the crowd.
No lip-sync
Proving the singing is live, not a lip-sync performance.

"Ritmo Joven" (above, left), was the other band playing the first night. The crowd seemed more than pleased with their mix of old and new songs. At one point, their lead singer (above, right) came down into the audience to perform, allaying any suspicions that, because it sounded so good, he might have been lip-syncing to a recording.

Early the next morning, both bands had folded up their bandstands and moved on to their next engagements, leaving room for two more mobile bandstands to be be set up for the second day of the fiesta.
