Cruceiro
Marivi and Daniel beside Sr. Porca's fine cruceiro

Our friend and neighbor, Señor Porca, has completed his cruceiro project with the help of the two Daniels (his son-in-law and grandson). But they aren't finished, yet.

Park-in- the-making
Stone patio in progress

Back in February, we posted some pictures of Don José Porca's Latest Artwork , stainless steel figures that were to be mounted on a new cruciero he planned to erect at his home. Using a structure crafted by Galician stonemasons, he finished that labor of love in August and now he and his family have another major project underway.

As you can see in the lower-right photo, they're creating a jardin (garden) area around the cruceiro. A new stone wall and a covered patio are nearing completion. The patio already has some outdoor furniture - a 10-foot granite picnic table and benches! When finished, the patio will be covered by a roof running from the stone wall in back to stone pillars in front. And since Daniel (the grandson) is a professional landscaper, you can bet that the area will look like a well-maintained park. With Señor Porca's permission, we'll post more pictures when the project is completed.
