Pet Cemetery
October 2006

Beginning in 1979, we've shared our homes with a total of 9 dogs. Two of them died during the time we lived in California and five have died here in Spain. But all nine of them are here with us in Ambroa, including Bart and Arnie, who live with us now.

Tonio and Paco, our first canine companions, died of old age in California. We had their remains cremated there and we brought their ashes with us when we moved here. Matilda and Otto made the move from California with us.

Our first Spanish dog was Dexter. He was an abandoned mutt living on handouts in the main square of Betanzos. Although we never planned to have more than two dogs at a time, we took him in and he got along just fine with Matilda and Otto. Unfortunately, Dexter didn't live very long and we buried his remains out here where we live now.

Since then, we've lost four more dogs to old age or illness, for a total of seven. All but Dexter were cremated. They're all together now in our own small pet cemetery.
