Mimosas

Mimosa2
LARGER MIMOSA NEAR A VIÑA

There are Mimosa trees scattered around all over this area and they're all in bloom in February. They're all pretty, but the ones out in the open, in full sun, are absolutely spectacular this time of year.

One day in mid-February I drove around the area to look at some that are visible from the roads. Shown above are a couple that I could get pictures of. A lot of the others were either shaded by surrounding pine and eucalyptus trees or were located where I had no place to stop the car without blocking half of the road. (Not a big deal around here but I refuse to do it.)

EXTRA LARGE
This one is located about 50 yards north of our local church. It's visible from over a mile away because of its size and location. On the left-hand side of the picture is an old electric company structure that's tower-shaped and about as tall as a two-story house. That gives you an idea of the size of this magnificent tree.
