Isaías Lopez, our nearest neighbor
to the west, bought an old horreo, moved it to his place here in Ambroa, and restored it
by cleaning the stone pieces and replacing all the wood. Entry is a matching wooden door
on the side, not visible in this photo.

The family in Casa Quemada, our neighbors
to the south, recently refurbished their own horreo, which they still use for corn
storage. These photos show it with and without the
wood. (MOVE CURSOR ONTO PHOTO TO SEE FINISHED WORK.)

Horreo figurines are big sellers - not
only to tourists but to local folks as well. (We have six.) They come in various sizes
and you can get them made of clay, porcelain, and even silver. When you visit Galicia
you'll see a lot of these in gift shops, souvenir shops, department stores and even
fine jewelry stores. Of all the things you might buy during your trip to Spain, a
miniature horreo will always remind you of your visit to Galicia.
