SR. GERMADE AND MARIVI AT HIS DISPLAY BOOTH AT THE PADERNE FEIRA
This 80-year-old gentleman is Sr. José Germade, the uncle of a friend of ours. We met him for the first time on July 22nd at his display booth at the Paderne Feira, the annual "county fair" held near here. For more than 30 years, Sr. Germade has been creating prize-winning figures from cattle horns that he obtained from commercial slaughterhouses. |
ON TABLE: Figures of ships and fish made from cattle horns

ON WALL: Some of the awards he has won over the years

Although he gets more pleasure from displaying than selling his work, he did sell some of it at this fair. Marivi
bought one, a figure of a fish about a foot long that was covered with scales carefully cut, one by one, into the surface. That kind of
attention to detail must have taken him many hours - and a lot of patience.
