Last year we posted pictures of the road frontage when it was badly in need of some vegetation. At the time, we said that we'd plant some bushes and/or flowers to brighten the place up a bit. Well, we did it ... and look how much they grew in just a year!

Okay. Now the truth. We did plant the hydrangeas outside the wall and we put in the pine bark beds, but that's about it. The bushes and plants inside went in last month. And Marivi and I only helped a little with the work. They were mainly the work of Ambroa's commercial nursery.

Marivi and Daniel celebrate a job well done

For years, Daniel (above, right) and his family have run a nursery here in Ambroa Parish, about a half-mile from us. Daniel got married and moved to Coruña, where he runs a large restaurant and sala de fiestas (banquet hall). He and his mother, Fina, were kind enough to spend a lot of time shopping for plants and doing the actual planting for us.

Fina is the daughter (and Daniel the grandson) of Don José Porca, the late artist (and blacksmith) whose work we've shown on these web pages in the past. We're lucky to have such good friends and neighbors and we're grateful for their help.
