Marivi's First Crop - Part 3
July 04

Before Spring ended we had some summer-like weather and things really started to grow! We've already enjoyed our first home-grown lettuce and cabbage, both of which grew so fast we were able to share some with friends.

Ready to eat?
First harvest - crisp home-grown lettuce.
The wood frame with strings is for green beans.
Agua
Besides rototilling, I get to water, too. This soil drains
well and the hot weather called for a lot of H2O.

Weeding
Marivi says we gotta keep the weeds under control.
We added a second frame to grow fava beans.

Getting BIG
By late June things were really growing fast.
So far we've gotten big cabbages and lettuce (like this one).

We may be rank amateurs at this but we're having fun and getting good results so far. Today (June 27th) Marivi brought in two 3-pound cabbages, one of which she gave to her mother. We're hoping to have similar good luck with the tomatoes, string beans, favas and grelos (young turnip greens).
