Last month we started our first vegetable garden with 10 lettuce plants. They're growing well and we've added to it since then.

This is our first attempt at growing anything here but flowers and bushes. It's Marivi's garden, really, and I haven't done anything but kill some grass, rototill and put up the little fence (to keep dogs out). Marivi has done all the watering and weeding. Our friends, Elena and Manolo are teaching us how gardening's done here and Manolo has done most of the actual vegetable planting from seedlings we bought in town. Needless to say, we're very grateful for all their help and advice.

We'll keep you posted on the progress we make in the next few months.
