The sticks just outside the wall are
Hydrangea cuttings. Some might bloom this year. (It could happen)

If there were any blooms in this
picture, they'd have to be clover.

We did have some flowers last year but they were mostly annuals and they're gone now. Neither of us has a green thumb but we plan to try again this year to grow something with some color to brighten the place up. In the meantime, we've at least kept the taller weeds under control. The land across the road from us is pasture. There are no cows there because the farmers take the grass to the cows instead of vice versa. Whatever grows there eventually migrates into our "yard", so planting lawn grass is out of the question for us. I just mow whatever grows. I intentionally kept these photos small enough so that you can't see all the holes Frodo has been digging. We have a couple of empty flower beds near the house that we intend to use soon. Frodo has already inaugurated that bare ground and I'm not overly optimistic about the survival of whatever we plant there. Time will tell, I guess. |
