Dogs are better than people
COCO, ME, ADOLFO and MATTIE

We posted a picture of Adolfo a while back. Well, Coco, the big shepherd on the left, is Adolfo's neighbor and amigo. We see them playing together in the fields from time to time. They're frequent visitors here, sometimes together, sometimes alone. They live in Tiulfe, a village to the south of us.

He's a big baby When we're out walking Otto and Mattie we often see Coco "guarding" his owners while they're working in the fields. If they allow him to, he'll come over to the road, sniff around our dogs, and then accept a treat if we offer it.

If Coco stops by the house for a treat when we have visitors, they're usually intimidated by his size. But the truth is, Coco is a big, friendly, gentle baby. Neither of our dogs is afraid of Coco because they know him. But to be on the safe side, Otto stands v-e-r-y still when Coco decides to smell him.

Coco's a hero, too. A few weeks ago, he and Adolfo were playing near Coco's home when Adolfo fell into a fertilizer tank (cow manure and water) and couldn't get out.

Just like in the movies, Coco ran home to summon his owners, who followed him back to the tank and rescued his little pal. His owners are rightfully proud of Coco and I imagine Adolfo's owners are grateful, too.

Coco's about 4 years old and is the son of Lucas, another neighborhood dog. (Lucas was brought here from Belgium, where he had been a police dog.)
