Bonita - Perro Numero Cuatro
December 2001

We really didn't want four dogs but we've got 'em now.
Here's number 4. For a brief summary of her background (and the story of our third dog, Frodo), Click here.
These pictures are the best we could do while Bonita's at the kennel.

These pictures were taken at a kennel near Betanzos, where she's recovering from neutering and removal of several cysts. The vet said she shows signs of a very difficult life. So much so, in fact, that he couldn't determine her approximate age.

We contacted an animal shelter in A Coruña about her. The shelter was full but a young volunteer took her and her pup in temporarily. Her small apartment was already home for several other stray dogs and she told us that this dog's stay would have to be temporary.

After the pup was weaned, the shelter found it a good home but couldn't find anyone to take the mama dog. So we have her now.

Working with our regular vet, Otto's surgical vet, and an exceptionally good boarding kennel, we had the dog neutered and she's recuperating under the watchful eye of the kennel folks. She's in good hands right now and we think she still will be when she gets back here.

Because of her age and background, she may not be with us as long as our other dogs have been but we want the last part of her life to be better than it has been. We'll post better pictures of her when we have them.
